The successor of this device, and the Nexus line. Looked around and couldn't find a clear guidance on how to enable diagnostic mode on USB (DM+Modem+ADB). My objective is to run QXDM to collect the wireless signaling logs for analysis in QCAT. Probably won't believe me, but this is for totally legit reasons (comparative radio performance analysis). Heck, I'm even using licensed software vs. Some old bootlegged/cracked version. I've done this in the past with Motorola (three-finger power up) and Samsung (goofy dial string entry), but have no experience with LG or Nexus phones.
Willing to run tests, collect logs, and analyze for the right answer. Thanks folks. You're my hero!
I went through the process of learning how to unlock the bootloader, root and all that and then came back to your guidance. So in adb shell, I issued the command: su -c 'setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb' And then boom!
Interestingly, a driver automatically loaded. Allu arjun malayalam movie krishna video songs free download. Looking in Windows Device Manager, it lists the device as 'Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 903D' in the COM ports section. I'm logging now with QXDM. Gonna take a snapshot of the NV items next. Thanks again! You put me on the right track to get this problem solved. I just got a Project Fi SIM (UICC) the other day, so I've been taking a few logs to figure out how the network switching works.
Haven't done much analysis yet. A few things:.
It's a dual IMSI situation (one for Sprint, one for T-Mobile). On T-Mobile, during the attach the phone indicates a voice preference domain of VoLTE. It attempts to activate the IMS APN on T-Mobile but is rejected with the dreaded ESM cause value 33 - service option not subscribed.
This would tend to indicate that the phone is ready to go with VoLTE, but the service has not been provisioned in the network profile for this subscription. PDP/EPS Bearer Context network inactivity timers. With WiFi on (i.e., no PDP/EPS Bearer context activated for user internet traffic), the Sprint network will send a detach with re-attach required message to the phone every 6 minutes - causing the phone to detach and restart the attach process again.
I noted that the phone does not attempt to search for T-Mobile when it is detached - even though T-Mobile has a higher RSRP (i.e., better signal) at my location. T-Mobile PDP/EPS Bearer context inactivity timer for the default bearer is a more realistic 60 minutes. On a handoff from a WiFi call to cellular I tried yesterday on T-Mobile, the phone sent the Extended Service Request on LTE, moved to WCDMA for the CSFB call (as expected). The SETUP message on WCDMA to initiate the voice call indicated a 916 area code number (Sacramento, CA). The actual called party number did not have a 916 area code. So, it would seem that the server holding the WiFi call is located in CA.
On Sprint, during the attach process, the phone indicates that its voice domain preference is CS voice only. No IMS love on Sprint. Looking at the NV items, there is one indicating EHPLMN. Have to take a look at that and decode the hex to figure out what is stored for the equivalent home PLMN. I'll switch networks to see if this NV item changes.
I'm thinking it might be the Metro PCS MCC/MNC when on T-Mobile and that it changes when on Sprint. Just a guess until I decode the hex.
Working on finding an area with sketchy signal quality so I can figure out the triggers for network switching (T-Mobile Sprint). I'm just going to take a step back to make sure all the 'little things' are set correctly. Do you have 'Developer Options' enabled.
If not, go to 'Settings' - 'About phone', scroll down to 'Build number' and tap it quickly 7 times. This should cause a new menu item in the 'Settings' menu titled, 'Developer options'. Open 'Settings' - 'Developer options' and under 'Debugging', enable 'USB debugging'. This 'might' be the problem. If not, let me know and I'll try to help you out.
Does the phone show up when you issue the command 'adb devices' from the command line from the platform-tools directory of the adb tool? If so, does it say 'device' or 'unauthorized'?
Also, there was an extra space in the command that I posted earlier. The correct command is: su -c 'setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb'.
This software is useful when you need a trace of the air interface, QXDM can capture the OTA packets and QCAT can print the contents. This is a fairly recent (2013) version that has a patched exe for each version (note that 3.14.594 requires an additional step, copying qlms.txt). This archive includes unpacked and cr.cked qxdm binaries for xp and 7.
This post explains how to connect QXDM to a Samsung S4 phone: Btw I would like to praise Qualcomm for their great software. Keep up the good work, guys! And if you like my post, please use the thanks button.
